Creating a Pie Chart Report

Module Analytics is an Add-on. Please contact your HR consultant for more information.

The HRWize Report Builder provides the ability to create reports in different formats.

  • Table
  • Column chart
  • Bar chart
  • Line chart
  • Pie chart
  • Tile

To create a Pie chart report, go to:

Reporting > Report builder > My reports > New report

Choose 'Pie chart' from "Select a report type":

There are many data sources to choose from but consider that a Pie chart report can give you multiple results from one single field. Typically, these will be grouped using a count as a field value.

In this example, we want a Pie chart to report on the diversity of the company. Here, we will select 'Users' as our Data source:

Next, give a report a name (mandatory) and a description (optional).

In the "Select Label Axis" and "Select Value Axis" sections:

  1. Select 'Gender' from "Select Label Axis";
  2. Enter a label name or it will default to the field name if left blank;
  3. Select 'Gender' from "Select Value Axis";
  4. The aggregate is "Count";
  5. Enter a label name or it will default to the field name if left blank.

Next, we want to apply a filter to make sure only active employees are reported. In the "Select filters" section, select:

  1. Active;
  2. Equals;
  3. Active.

In the "Select Chart Options" section, you can choose Order, Value, or Legend as options that will change the appearance of your chart. Depending on the type and volume of data you are reporting on, these may make little or no difference to your chart.

The drill-down option allows you to link this Pie chart to another report to see more employee details associated with this report:

  1. First, select 'Enable dropdown';
  2. If you select:
    1. Drilldown by clicking entire chart, and then choose 'Drilldown to report' or 'Drilldown to dashboard'. Depending on your choice, select a report or dashboard you created previously with associated data:
    2. Drilldown by clicking on a value, then select a report you created previously with associated data. Select one or more filters, which in this case, we are only reporting on Gender, so this is the only filter available:

You can then check what the report looks like by clicking on the 'Edit report' followed by the 'View report'.

This time, click on any value in the chart and the drill-down report we linked to will show associated data, but only for employees for the pie chart segment we selected, which in this case is Male or Female:
