Creating a Tile Report

The HRWize Report Builder provides the ability to create reports in different formats.

  • Table
  • Column chart
  • Bar chart
  • Line chart
  • Pie chart
  • Tile

To create a Tile report, go to:

Reporting > Report builder > My reports > New report

Choose 'Tile' from "Select a report type":

There are many data sources to choose from, but a Tile report gives you one single numeric value for each tile which will be a Count, Minimum, Maximum, Sum or Average of a field value.

In this example, we want a Tile to report on the number of users on a specific access level. Here, we will select 'Users' as our Data source:

Next, give a report a name (mandatory) and a description (optional).

Then, in the "Select the value" section:

  1. Field = User group
  2. Aggregate = Count
  3. Enter a label name or it will default to the field if this is left blank.

Next step, we want to apply a filter to make sure that only those employee users who are set as "Managers" are counted by using a filter:

  1. User group
  2. Equals
  3. Manager

You may wish to see the tile report a value that will be highlighted in a distinctive colour. In the "Select Tile Indicators" section:

  1. Add a Lower indicator value;
  2. Add an upper indicator value;
  3. Choose a background color for the tile;
  4. Choose the text color on the tile.

In this example, we say that if the # of Manager users is:

  • Between 1 and 5, the background color will be Red with the text color as White.
  • Between 6 and 10, the background color will be Blue with the text color as White.
  • Between 11 and 15, the background color will be Green with the text color as White. 

Please Note - Use the slider on the scale or move the mouse around in the box the choose your color. You can also enter the # hexadecimal value for precise color matching to your branding guidelines.

In the Select Tile options section:

  1. Add a value prefix or suffix, e.g. $ where the value you are reporting is financial;
  2. Create a drill-down link to another report to provide more supporting detail for the value;
  3. In this example, we have already created a Table report called
  4. "Employee list report" that we have selected here.

After clicking on the 'Edit report', followed by the 'View report', we can see the tile report showing that there 6 manager users. The tile is Blue because we set our tile indicator in "Section 7 - Select Tile Indicators" to display Blue when the value is between 6 and 10.

Clicking on the tile will give you the drill-down table report which will give you access to more information about the Users belonging to the Managers group.
